AUDIOBOOKS

I really got into audiobooks when my kids were babies and I’d take them out for long walks in their buggies. When I started recording them myself I realised how fun it was to play all these different characters, or simply get to read interesting books I’d probably never get round to otherwise!

I’ve narrated all sorts of things – stories about zombies, being lost in space, murderous love triangles, and non fiction titles about tax, football and early surgical procedures! Most of my audiobooks have pretty good reviews on Audible! I was a narrator on the Audie finalist book “The Guest List”!

You can listen to some clips below, and find most of these books on Audible from which here are some reviews (sorry, but you’ve got to sell yourself these days)

What is the truth about Britain’s finances?

Paul Johnson and the enormously respected Institute for Fiscal Studies aim to hold Government to account – without which politicians will get away with their half-truths, elisions and dubious claims.

This is a forensic examination – by the man best placed to do so – of the way the state raises and spends £1 trillion of our money every year. To follow the money. To provide an explanation, of where that money comes from and where it goes to, how that has changed and how it needs to change.

Johnson looks at what happened following the financial crisis of 2008-09 and the austerity years that followed. He examines the way that the government tackled the economy during Covid – when the UK budget shot up to over a trillion for the first time – and he analyses prospects for our future as we grapple with looming recession and the cost of living crisis.

Hitler is gone. Plan Z is defeated. But the Dead still walk.

Jun is a deadhunter – and a damn good one. For her, patrolling Northern Italy with Sergeant Josiah and his elite squad, eradicating zombies and searching for survivors is nothing new.

When the squad encounters a group of refugees being relentlessly pursued by the Dead, they uncover a new threat: a secret Alpine Redoubt stuffed with SS and Hitler Youth, who have seemingly gained control over the Dead.

The race is on: neutralise the Nazi menace, destroy the secret base and stem the tide of Dead – or lose Europe to an unstoppable zombie army.

World War Two is over, but the Dead War is just beginning.

I had a lot of fun playing Adam in this multi narrator thriller…

The never-before-told inside story of how the Premier League became the wildest, richest, most popular entertainment business on the planet.

How did English football – once known for its stale pies, bad bookkeeping and hooligans – become a commercial powerhouse and the world’s premium popular entertainment?

Drawing on dozens of exclusive and revelatory interviews from the boardrooms – including Liverpool’s John W. Henry, Tottenham’s Daniel Levy, Martin Edwards and David Gill at Manchester United, Arsène Wenger and Stan Kroenke at Arsenal, Manchester City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain, and executives at Chelsea, West Ham, Leicester City and Aston Villa – this is the definitive bust and boom account of how the Premier League product took over the world.

The history of surgery in 28 famous operations – from Louis XIV to JFK, and from Einstein to Houdini.

In Under the Knife, surgeon Arnold Van de Laar uses his own experience and expertise to tell the witty history of the past, present and future of surgery. From the story of the desperate man from 17th-century Amsterdam who grimly cut a stone out of his own bladder to Bob Marley’s deadly toe infection, Under the Knife offers all kinds of fascinating and unforgettable insights into medicine and history via the operating theatre.

What happens during an operation? How does the human body respond to being attacked by a knife, a bacterium, a cancer cell or a bullet? And, as medical advances continuously push the boundaries of what medicine can cure, what are the limits of surgery?

From the dark centuries of bloodletting and of amputations without anaesthetic to today’s sterile, high-tech operating theatres, Under the Knife is both a rich cultural history and a modern anatomy class for us all.

Two couples. A doctor’s surgery. A deadly obsession. Who’s telling the truth?
